Get a Remy's-Eye View at Disneyland Paris

Fans of the Pixar classic “Ratatouille” can fully immerse themselves in the world of Remy, the beloved rat-turned-chef from the movie, at Disneyland Paris, which is the only Disney park with a Ratatouille-themed attraction.

To start, visitors can board the Ratatouille: L’Aventure Totalement Toquee de Remy (Remy’s Totally Zany Adventure) ride, where through the magic of 3-D animation, trackless technology and creative effects, riders will feel as if they have been reduced to the size of a rat that’s able to scramble over the rooftops of Paris. They also get to explore the five-star kitchen from the movie from a rodent’s point of view. The ride, which opened in July 2014, is reminiscent of the Star Tours attraction at Disneyland, but with much more movement and some surprises thrown in. And it’s appropriate for all ages.

To make a Ratatouille experience all the more magical, after the ride, visitors can make reservations to dine on French cuisine at Bistrot Chez Remy, a real-life re-creation of the restaurant in the film. Not only is the food here better than average for a theme park, the bistro is designed from Remy’s point of view — think champagne cork stools and jam-jar tabletops. Reservations can be made 60 days in advance, and they fill up quickly.

Disneyland Paris is a 45-minute train ride from central Paris, via the RER railroad. The park itself is similar to Disney parks in other locations, only not quite as large — and with a Parisian feel. Visitors are often pleased to be able to enjoy both parks (Disneyland and Walt Disney Studios, where the Ratatouille attraction is located) in a single day. Guests are permitted to bring their own picnics, and French visitors often bring wine, cheese and other delicacies with them.

Make sure to tell clients to stay until closing: Disney Dreams, an end-of-night fireworks/light show at the park’s castle, features an impressive array of pyrotechnics, water features, music, lights and image projection to create a breathtaking and realistic transformation of the park’s castle. It’s not to be missed.

Paris Sewer Museum
For guests who want to see even more of the world through the eyes of Remy, the animated rodent in “Ratatouille,” the Paris Sewer Museum and Tour (Musee des egouts de Paris) might be of interest. The self-guided underground walking tour takes about 45 minutes and allows visitors to walk through actual Paris sewer tunnels — learning about the history of the sewer system and how it operates. Be warned: While the tour itself is rodent-free, the location is damp and doesn’t exactly smell like fresh baguettes.
